Changelog
We ship improvements continuously. Here's what we've built, fixed, and released.
Latest CostLoop Scanner release New
CostLoop Email Scanner
- Released the latest CostLoop Scanner build for Chrome, with separate packages prepared for Opera, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge.
- Added the new scanner access model: Free users can preview up to 5 detected subscriptions, while Pro and Business users can view and import all detected results.
- Improved the scanner results panel with clearer locked results, upgrade actions, imported labels, currency review controls, and a cleaner correction editor.
- Redesigned the scan progress screen with clearer scan status, progress, cancellation, and discovered/checked/candidate/analyzed counters.
- Added resumable scan handling so long inbox scans can continue more reliably if the browser service worker pauses.
- Kept the secure extension architecture: pairing-code connection, server-side token broker, no direct Supabase table access from the extension, no raw OAuth refresh tokens in the client, and no browser session scraping permission.
Website and onboarding
- Added a dedicated Extension Guide with a video walkthrough for installing, connecting, scanning, reviewing, and importing subscriptions.
- Updated privacy, permission, troubleshooting, and scanner documentation so users understand what the extension reads, what it stores, and how to disconnect Gmail or Outlook.
- Published a new scanner blog guide explaining how to find subscriptions from Gmail and Outlook billing emails.
Multi-currency support, new billing cycles & Chrome extension v1.0.28 New
Chrome Extension (v1.0.27 to v1.0.28)
- Removed an unused browser permission that caused Chrome Web Store rejection
Bug fixes
- Fixed a new subscription briefly appearing twice in the list until the page was refreshed
- Fixed "Validation failed" error when importing weekly-billed subscriptions (e.g. from the Chrome extension)
- Fixed renewal date not updating when switching billing cycle a second time (previously required closing and reopening the form)
Multi-currency support
- Subscriptions can now be billed in any of 113 world currencies (previously 11)
- Dashboard totals, forecasts, and reports now correctly convert each subscription's cost into your workspace's display currency using daily exchange rates, instead of adding raw numbers across different currencies
- Extended to the Business plan as well (Add/Request Subscription, budgets, reports, all dashboard views)
New billing cycles
- Added Quarterly, Every 2 Months, and Custom (any number of days) billing cycles, alongside Monthly / Annual / Lifetime / Weekly
- Renewal date now auto-fills based on the selected cycle (e.g. picking Quarterly sets the date 3 months out)
New feature
- Added a one-time "Did this save you time?" prompt after a workspace's first 3 subscriptions are imported. Yes links to the G2 review page, No opens a quick feedback form sent directly to the team.
Automatic price-hike detection New
CostLoop now checks your connected inboxes every day and automatically flags when a vendor raises a subscription's price - old price, new price, and the exact percentage increase, right on your dashboard. No manual scanning, no spreadsheets. If Notion quietly bumps you from $7 to $9, you'll know the next morning.
- Runs automatically every day in the background - no action needed
- Shows exact figures: $7 to $9 (+29%), not a vague "your bill changed"
- Flags appear on the dashboard so you can review and decide whether to stay or cancel
- Works with all connected inbox integrations
- Available on Pro and Business plans
Bank statement import New
You can now upload a CSV export from your bank and CostLoop will automatically scan your transactions, detect recurring charges, and suggest them as subscriptions to import. No more manually hunting through statements to find what you're paying for.
- Upload any CSV bank export - CostLoop maps your columns automatically
- Scans all transactions and surfaces recurring charges as potential subscriptions
- Review detected subscriptions before importing - edit name, amount, cycle, and category inline
- Uncheck anything you don't want to import
- Shows how many transactions were scanned and unique merchants found
- Available on Pro and Business plans
Renewal calendar view New
You can now view all your upcoming subscription renewals in a calendar layout. Instead of scrolling through a list to find what renews this month, you can switch to calendar view and see every renewal date plotted across the month at a glance.
- Switch between list view and calendar view from the renewals page
- Renewals are colour-coded by urgency - red for this week, amber for this month
- Click any date to jump directly to the subscription detail
- Available on all plans including Free
Chrome Extension: Gmail and Outlook scanner New
The CostLoop Chrome Extension is now available. It scans Gmail or Outlook billing emails and surfaces likely subscriptions for review. Edit uncertain details, choose what to import, and send approved subscriptions into your CostLoop dashboard.
- Scans Gmail and Outlook for billing and renewal emails
- Suggests vendor name, amount, billing cycle, and renewal date when enough receipt information is available
- Review all detected subscriptions before importing - nothing is added without your approval
- Install free from the Chrome Web Store
- Available on all plans including Free
Renewal reminders via email New
Get an email alert 7, 14, or 30 days before any subscription renews. Configure the lead time per subscription or set a global default in account settings.
- Email alerts sent at 07:00 Oslo time on the configured day
- Supports multiple recipients per subscription
- Works on both Free and Pro plans (Pro gets custom lead times)
Health score improvements Improved
The CostLoop health score now weighs overdue renewals more heavily and gives extra credit when cancellation links are on file. This makes the score a better proxy for real subscription risk.
CSV import - bulk add subscriptions New
Import up to 500 subscriptions at once from a CSV file. Download our template, fill it in, and upload. Ideal for migrating from a spreadsheet or onboarding your whole stack in one go.
- Supports name, cost, currency, billing cycle, renewal date, notes, and owner fields
- Validation report shows any rows with missing required fields before import
- Free plan supports up to 10 rows; Pro has no limit
Dark mode New
CostLoop now respects your system preference for dark or light mode. You can also toggle manually from the top-right corner inside the app.
Multi-currency support New
Add subscriptions in any currency. CostLoop converts all costs to your home currency using daily exchange rates, so your dashboard total is always accurate - even when you pay in USD, EUR, GBP, and SEK simultaneously.
- Supports 40+ currencies
- Exchange rates updated daily
- Home currency set in account settings
Document storage per subscription New
Attach invoices, contracts, and PDFs directly to any subscription record. No more hunting through email to find the original invoice when finance asks for it.
- Up to 3 files per subscription on Free plan
- Unlimited attachments on Pro
- Supported formats: PDF, PNG, JPG, XLSX, CSV
Subscription categories and tags New
Organise subscriptions with custom categories (e.g. Marketing, Dev Tools, HR) and free-form tags. Filter and sort the dashboard by category to see exactly where your software budget is going.
Export to CSV and PDF Improved
The data export now includes all fields - category, tags, owner, notes, cancellation link, and all renewal dates - and generates a clean PDF summary suitable for sharing with finance or accountants.
Team members and shared workspaces New
Invite team members to your CostLoop workspace. Assign subscriptions to owners, control who can edit versus view, and keep your whole team in sync on what the business is paying for.
- Owner and viewer roles
- Invite by email
- Up to 5 team members on Pro plan
CostLoop Pro launched New
CostLoop Pro is now available at $9/month. Pro removes the free plan subscription limit and unlocks advanced features: document storage, CSV import, multi-currency, team seats, and priority support.
Cancellation link field New
Every subscription now has a dedicated cancellation link field. Store the exact URL where you cancel the service so there's no scrambling when you need to cancel quickly before a renewal date.
Subscription health score New
The health score gives your subscription list a score from 0-100 based on how complete and up-to-date each record is. Missing renewal dates, no cancellation links, and overdue renewals all bring the score down. A higher score means less risk.
Public launch New
CostLoop launched publicly with the core subscription tracker, renewal calendar, and cost dashboard. Free to use with one subscription. Built in Oslo, Norway for small and medium businesses and freelancers who were tired of spreadsheets.
