1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit. They allow the website to remember information about your visit - such as whether you are logged in - so that the site works correctly on your next visit or as you navigate between pages.

Cookies are not programs and cannot carry viruses or malware. A cookie can only be read by the server that set it.

2. Cookies We Use

CostLoop uses a minimal set of cookies, all of which are functional and strictly necessary for the application to work. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

Authentication cookies

These cookies are set when you sign in to CostLoop. They maintain your logged-in session so you do not have to enter your password on every page. Without these cookies, the application cannot function. They are session-scoped or set with a reasonable expiry period aligned with your session.

  • Purpose: Session management and authentication
  • Duration: Session or up to 30 days (if you choose "Stay signed in")
  • Category: Strictly necessary

Preference cookies

These cookies remember settings you have chosen, such as your preferred currency display or language, so that you do not need to reconfigure them each time you return.

  • Purpose: Storing user preferences
  • Duration: Up to 12 months
  • Category: Functional

3. Third-Party Cookies

Some of our third-party service providers may also set cookies when you use CostLoop. These are limited to functional purposes only:

  • Supabase - our authentication and database provider may set cookies as part of the secure session management process. These cookies are necessary for keeping you signed in and are not used for tracking or advertising.
  • Stripe - if you proceed through the payment checkout flow, Stripe may set cookies to facilitate the payment process and prevent fraud. These cookies are set and controlled by Stripe, not CostLoop. For details, see Stripe's cookie settings.

We do not control the cookies set by these third parties, but we ensure these providers are contractually limited to using cookies only for their designated purpose (delivering the service) and not for advertising or tracking across other sites.

4. What We Do NOT Use

To be explicit: CostLoop does not use:

  • Advertising or retargeting cookies
  • Third-party analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics)
  • Social media tracking pixels
  • Cross-site tracking technologies

5. Managing Cookies

You can control and manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies. Below are links to cookie management instructions for common browsers:

Please note: Blocking or deleting authentication cookies will prevent you from signing in to CostLoop. If you block functional cookies, the application will not work correctly.

6. Changes to This Notice

We may update this Cookie and Tracking Notice if we change the cookies we use. Any material changes will be communicated by updating this page and, where appropriate, by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when it was last revised.
