1. Overview
CostLoop gives you meaningful control over your privacy and data. This page explains the privacy-related settings available to you, where to find them in the app, and your rights under GDPR. For technical implementation details, see our full Privacy Policy.
2. Marketing Emails
CostLoop may send you product updates, tips, new feature announcements, and occasional promotional emails - but only if you explicitly opt in. We never send marketing emails without your consent, and we never pre-check the marketing consent box.
The consent text shown in the app reads: "I agree to receive product updates, tips, and marketing emails from CostLoop. I can unsubscribe at any time." This box is always unchecked by default.
To change your marketing email preference: Sign in → Settings → Notifications → Marketing emails. Toggle the setting on or off at any time.
You can also unsubscribe directly from any marketing email using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the message. Your preference will be updated immediately.
3. Renewal Reminder Emails
Renewal reminder notifications are transactional emails that are core to CostLoop's service - they alert you when a subscription is approaching its renewal date. Because these are fundamental to the service you signed up for, they are sent based on your contract with us, not marketing consent.
You can configure the timing of renewal reminders (e.g., 7 days, 14 days, or 30 days before renewal) in Settings → Notifications. However, if you have an active Pro subscription, you cannot fully disable renewal reminders without cancelling your plan, as they are part of the core service functionality.
4. Account Data
You can update your personal details - including your email address and display name - at any time:
- Sign in → Settings → Account
To change your password, go to Settings → Account → Change password. Passwords are stored as secure, salted hashes - we cannot read your password.
5. Data Export
You can download a full export of all your subscription records as a CSV file. This supports your GDPR right to data portability.
See the Data Export page for full instructions, including what fields are included and which plans support export.
6. Account Deletion
You can permanently delete your CostLoop account and all associated data at any time. This is irreversible.
See the Account Deletion page for step-by-step instructions, including what gets deleted and what to do if you have an active subscription.
7. Cookie Settings
CostLoop uses Google Analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the site. You can accept or decline analytics cookies at any time. Functional cookies required for sign-in and core features are always active.
Use the button below to change your cookie preference. Your choice is saved in your browser and takes effect immediately.
For full details, see our Cookie and Tracking Notice.
8. Your GDPR Rights - Summary
As a CostLoop user based in the EEA (or anywhere in the world), you have the following rights under GDPR:
- Access - request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification - correct any inaccurate or incomplete data in your account.
- Erasure - permanently delete your account and all personal data. See Account Deletion.

Datatilsynetwww.datatilsynet.no
Datatilsynet is the national supervisory authority for data protection in Norway, where CostLoop is operated.
