1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit. They allow the website to remember information about your visit - such as whether you are logged in - so that the site works correctly on your next visit or as you navigate between pages.
Cookies are not programs and cannot carry viruses or malware. A cookie can only be read by the server that set it.
2. Cookies We Use
CostLoop uses cookies and similar browser storage for necessary functions, preferences, optional analytics, and referral attribution. Optional categories are controlled through the cookie-preferences interface where consent is required.
Authentication cookies
These cookies are set when you sign in to CostLoop. They maintain your logged-in session so you do not have to enter your password on every page. Without these cookies, the application cannot function. They are session-scoped or set with a reasonable expiry period aligned with your session.

- Duration: Set according to the active authentication-session configuration.
- Category: Strictly necessary
Preference cookies
These cookies remember settings you have chosen, such as your preferred currency display or language, so that you do not need to reconfigure them each time you return.
- Purpose: Storing user preferences
- Duration: Until you change or clear the preference, subject to the configured expiry.
- Category: Functional
Analytics storage
With your consent, the CostLoop marketing website uses Google Analytics to understand traffic and feature engagement. Analytics storage is not required to create or use a CostLoop account, and you can withdraw consent through cookie preferences.
Referral and affiliate attribution
If you arrive through an affiliate's unique link, CostLoop may store a referral code and related attribution details, such as the referring affiliate, landing page, attribution time, and signup or conversion status. We use this information to credit eligible commissions, resolve attribution questions, and prevent abuse. Referral attribution does not change your price unless a promotion states otherwise.
Where referral storage is not strictly necessary and applicable law requires consent, it is used only after that consent. The attribution record is retained only for the period needed to determine commission eligibility, handle refunds or chargebacks, prevent fraud, and meet accounting or legal requirements.
3. Third-Party Cookies
Some service providers may set or read cookies or similar storage when you use their features:
- Supabase - our authentication and database provider may set cookies as part of the secure session management process. These cookies are necessary for keeping you signed in and are not used for tracking or advertising.
- Stripe - if you proceed through the payment checkout flow, Stripe may set cookies to facilitate the payment process and prevent fraud. These cookies are set and controlled by Stripe, not CostLoop. For details, see Stripe's cookie settings.
- Stripe Connect - affiliate onboarding and payout flows may use Stripe storage for identity verification, security, fraud prevention, and payout administration.
- Google Analytics - optional website analytics used according to the consent settings shown in our banner.
Third parties control their own cookies and may process information under their privacy notices and legal obligations.
4. What We Do NOT Use
CostLoop does not use referral or marketing storage to:
- Change the price shown to a referred customer
- Give affiliates access to a referred customer's private workspace or payment details
- Override a consent choice or browser control
Optional campaign measurement or marketing technologies are enabled only according to the choices presented in the cookie-preferences interface. If our providers or purposes change, we will update this notice and request consent where required.
5. Managing Cookies
You can use CostLoop's cookie-preferences interface to accept, reject, or change optional categories. You can also control cookies through your browser settings:
Please note: Blocking or deleting authentication cookies will prevent you from signing in to CostLoop. If you block functional cookies, the application will not work correctly.
6. Signup Referral Notice
The signup page may display this short notice when a referral code is present: "Referral notice: If you arrived through an affiliate link, CostLoop may store the referral code and basic attribution data to credit the referring affiliate. This does not change your price. Where required, non-essential referral storage is used only with your consent. See our Privacy Policy and Cookie Notice."
7. Changes to This Notice
We may update this Cookie and Tracking Notice if we change the cookies we use. Any material changes will be communicated by updating this page and, where appropriate, by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when it was last revised.
