FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about CostLoop - security, pricing, setup, and how we compare to other tools.

General
Basics about plans, upgrades, and your account.
The free plan allows 1 subscription. To track unlimited subscriptions, upgrade to the Pro plan ($9/month). The Business plan also supports unlimited subscriptions across your entire workspace.
Go to Settings → Billing inside the app and click Upgrade plan. You'll be taken to a secure Stripe checkout. The upgrade takes effect immediately after payment.
Go to Settings → Billing and click Manage billing. This opens your Stripe billing portal where you can cancel your subscription. Your data remains accessible until the end of the current billing period.
CostLoop supports USD, EUR, GBP, NOK, SEK, DKK, CAD, AUD, CHF, and JPY. Set your preferred currency in Settings → Preferences. Note: CostLoop does not convert between currencies - costs are displayed in your chosen currency as entered.
Go to Settings → Account and scroll to the Delete account section. Confirm the deletion to permanently remove your account and all associated data. If you're on a paid plan, cancel your subscription first to avoid future charges.
The Business plan is designed for teams. One workspace owner invites colleagues who each sign in with their own account and get a role (Admin, Member, or Viewer). The Personal/Pro plans are for individual use only.
Check your spam or junk folder for emails from [email protected] and mark the sender as safe. Also verify that email reminders are enabled in Settings → Notifications and that your subscriptions have a renewal date set.
Security & Privacy
How your data is stored, protected, and handled.
Yes. All data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS in the EU) with row-level security ensuring no user can access another's data. All traffic is encrypted via HTTPS. Uploaded documents are stored in private, access-controlled storage buckets. CostLoop is GDPR-compliant.
CostLoop does not connect to your bank or payment accounts. There are no credentials stored. You manually enter subscription names and costs - no bank access, no card details, no integration with financial accounts. Data is stored in Supabase on EU servers with encryption at rest. For detailed security information, see our security page.
Your bank shows charges after they've happened. CostLoop is forward-looking - it tracks renewal dates and alerts you 30 days before a subscription renews so you can decide whether to keep it. It also stores cancellation links, tracks which team members own each tool, and gives you a full picture across all payment methods.
No. CostLoop is entirely manual-entry. You add subscriptions yourself - name, cost, renewal date. There are no bank integrations, no credential sharing, and no API access to your accounts. This is intentional: it keeps CostLoop private and secure by design.
Your data stays accessible on the Free plan (up to 1 subscription). If you want a full export before cancelling, use the data export feature from your account settings - you can download all your subscription data as a CSV at any time. After account deletion, data is purged from servers within 30 days.
Product Fit
Who CostLoop is for and what it can do for you.
Yes. Many users track a mix of personal and business subscriptions. CostLoop works for any recurring cost - Netflix, gym memberships, cloud storage - alongside business tools. The Pro plan ($9/month) lets you organize subscriptions into workspaces if you want to separate personal and business.
Most users add their full subscription list in 15–30 minutes. You can also import from a CSV file (Pro plan) if you have your subscriptions in a spreadsheet already. The onboarding takes about 5 minutes - add your first subscription, set a renewal date, and you're done.
Pricing & Business
Discounts, team plans, and billing questions.
Send an email to [email protected] with a brief description of your situation. We handle these on a case-by-case basis and are happy to work something out for nonprofits, educational institutions, and students who need the Pro features.
Yes. The Business plan ($39/month) includes multiple workspaces, team management, and an admin dashboard. Team members can be assigned as owners of specific subscriptions. The Pro plan ($9/month) is for 1 user; Business is for teams.
Mobile & Platform
Accessing CostLoop on any device.
CostLoop is a web app that works on all devices including phones and tablets through your browser. A dedicated iOS and Android app is on the product roadmap. You can add CostLoop to your phone's home screen as a progressive web app (PWA) for quick access in the meantime.
Competitor Comparisons
How CostLoop stacks up against other tools.
Expense tools like Expensify are built for one-time purchases, receipts, and employee reimbursements. CostLoop is built specifically for recurring subscriptions - renewal tracking, alerts, and cost visibility over time. They solve different problems. Many businesses use both: Expensify for receipts, CostLoop for subscriptions. See our full comparison page for more detail.
