How to Cancel Asana - Step by Step Guide

Before You Cancel Asana

Three things to check before you start the Asana cancellation process.

  1. Only billing owners can cancel. If you are not the billing owner for your Asana workspace, you cannot complete the cancellation. Check who the billing owner is under Admin Console > Billing.
  2. Understand what you lose on the free plan. Asana's free plan supports up to 10 users with basic task and project features. Premium features like Timeline, Reporting, and Portfolios are removed when you downgrade. All your tasks and projects remain visible.
  3. Export your project data if needed. Asana allows you to export tasks and projects as CSV files from each project's settings. Do this before downgrading if you want a local backup.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to my Asana projects when I cancel?

All your tasks, projects, and team data are preserved when you downgrade to the free plan. However, Premium and Business features are removed: Timeline view, Portfolios, Workload, Goals, and advanced reporting will no longer be accessible. Projects previously using Timeline will revert to list view.

Does Asana offer refunds when you cancel?

Asana does not offer prorated refunds on annual plans. Your paid plan continues until the end of the subscription period after cancellation. Monthly plans stop billing after the current cycle. Contact Asana support if you have a specific billing dispute.

What does the Asana free plan include?

The Asana free plan supports unlimited tasks, projects, and conversations for up to 10 team members. It includes list view, board view, and calendar view. It does not include Timeline (Gantt chart), Workload, Portfolios, Custom Fields, Forms, or the reporting and goal-tracking features available on Premium and Business plans.

Can I remove individual members instead of cancelling my Asana plan?

Yes. Asana charges per seat on Premium and Business plans. If you want to reduce cost without cancelling, you can remove team members from the organization to reduce your seat count. Go to Admin Console > Members and deactivate users who no longer need access. Your bill will adjust at the next renewal date.

Keep Track of Every Subscription You Still Pay For
