How to Cancel Zapier - Step by Step Guide

Before You Cancel Zapier

Three things to check before you start the Zapier cancellation process.

  1. Document your active Zaps before downgrading. The free plan allows only 5 single-step Zaps. If you have more than 5 Zaps or multi-step Zaps, they will be turned off on the free plan. Go to your Zap list and document each automation so you can rebuild them if you re-subscribe.
  2. Multi-step Zaps are not available on the free plan. Any Zap with more than one action step will be disabled when you downgrade. Single-step Zaps under the limit of 5 will continue to run.
  3. Task usage resets monthly. Zapier charges based on tasks (each action step a Zap completes is a task). The free plan includes 100 tasks per month. If your automations run frequently, check whether 100 tasks/month is enough for your core workflows.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to my Zaps when I cancel Zapier?

Zaps that exceed the free plan limits (5 Zaps, single-step only, 100 tasks/month) are automatically turned off. They are not deleted - you can see them in your Zap list in an "off" state. If you re-subscribe, you can turn them back on. Multi-step Zaps remain in your account but cannot run without a paid plan.

Does Zapier offer refunds when you cancel?

Zapier does not offer prorated refunds on annual plans. Your paid plan continues until the subscription end date. Monthly plans stop billing after the current cycle ends. For billing disputes, contact Zapier support.

What does the Zapier free plan include?

The free plan includes 5 Zaps, single-step automations only (one trigger and one action), 100 tasks per month, and access to 2,000 plus app integrations. It does not include multi-step Zaps, filters and conditions, paths (conditional branching), premium apps (Salesforce, Marketo, Jira), scheduled Zaps, or webhooks.

How do I know which of my Zaps to keep active after downgrading?

Review your Zap history to see which automations ran in the last 30 days and how many tasks they used. Keep the 5 Zaps that handle your most critical workflows. For others, document the trigger, action, and any filters so you can rebuild them if you need them later. Single-step Zaps that use non-premium apps are the easiest to re-enable when you re-subscribe.
